Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself. (Where you’re from, what you’re doing now…etc.)
A: I was born in Belle Fourche, and we move to the Lincoln Nebraska area when I was two. I stayed there until I finished college and moved to Rapid City when I started a family shortly after that. I always loved the Hills. I currently have a business that I work throughout West River completing on-site upholstery jobs.
Q: How long have you been running and how did you get started?
A: I remember going jogging with my dad early in my elementary years. I ran through High School and just off and on during college. Since then have been sporadically running and just this last year have taken it a bit more seriously.
Q: Would you rather run with a group or alone?
A: Overall, I prefer to run by myself as I like to have loud angry music in my head and clear my mind.
Q: Do you prefer roads or trails?
A: I prefer roads. That makes me happy to have the faster pace that I can achieve on roads. Also I don’t have to think at all.
Q: What is your favorite distance or race?
A: I have really enjoyed the half marathon recently, but for some reason truly miss racing in track at distances like the mile.
Q: How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run?
A: I don’t really have a problem with not wanting to run. If I am not in the mood it doesn’t bother me very much to take a day or two off.
Q: What do you find to be the most rewarding thing about running?
A: I love competition. This last year I improved my personal records really significantly and it has definitely improved my mood.
Q: What are your running goals for the future?
A: At some point I will run a marathon, but that is not a super high priority. I think my goal for 2020 is to run a sub 1 hour and 25 minutes half marathon and maybe make an attempt at a sub 5-minute mile.
Q: Who inspires you most?
A: I am always amazed with the runners in our club. There are so many people dedicated to putting in huge miles and I find that dedication amazing.
