Q. Tell me a little bit about yourself. (Where you’re from, what you’re doing now) etc…) Pat grew up in Hill City and Lisa grew up in Glenwood, MN and we met at the University of Minnesota.
A. We lived in Denver for 7 years after college and moved back to Hill City to raise our family. We own Granite Sports in Hill City and Lisa is a Charge Nurse in the ICU at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Q. How long have you been running and how did you get started?
A. We both started running 9 years ago to try to set an example for our daughter who wanted to run cross country. All of us continue to run today.
Q. Would you rather run with a group or alone?
A. Pat is probably more of a group runner and Lisa prefers to run alone.
Q. Do you prefer roads or trails?
A. We are both trail runners.
Q. What is your favorite distance or race?
A. Both of us enjoy 10ks the most.
Q. What are your goals for the future?
A. We would like to go run a race in another country..maybe Iceland or Europe
Q. Do you have a pre-race ritual?
A. Coffee, which happens to be our pre-day ritual as well
Q. What do you love most about running? What do you like least?
A. We like to get out and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. Neither one of us are big treadmill fans and we don’t like running outside when it is really cold.
Q. Who inspires you most?
A. We are inspired by the people that maybe aren’t uber runners, but get out and try regardless of age, weight or speed.
Q. Do you have any favorite races that you have run?
A. Pat’s favorite race is probably the Mystic Mountain Run. I love that part of the Black Hills. I have spent a lot of time in that area growing up.
Q. What advice do you have for new runners?
A. Just get out and try it. It’s okay to walk. It’s a great way to explore the Black Hills.
